Martin Gagné

Head Chef

Executive chef of the Hôtel-Musée Premières Nations, Martin Gagné started his story with cooking at 16. 4th generation Algonquin, Martin Gagné has always considered himself an aboriginal at heart.

Originally from Sherbrooke in Estrie, Martin Gagné studied at l’école hôtelière Le Triolet. He is quickly offered a Sous-Chef position at the prestigious Manoir Hovey in North Hatley. He will then become the executive Chef at the Manoir Saint-Crastin and settles in the Québec area. This is where he started to get his First Nations inspiration which will give him the nickname of « Gastronomy sorcerer ». In 2008, when the Hôtel-Musée Premières Nations opened its doors, it seemed only natural for him to become executive Chef of the restaurant La Traite, where he will continue to innovate by creating the « Terroir du Nord » label.
