Repentigny, June 19, 2014 – The Hôtellerie Champêtre network’s annual general assembly was held on June 15 and 16, 2014 at Auberge des Gallant in the Montérégie region. This year, the network held a large-scale event, as the gathering also served to kick off the celebration of the banner’s 25th anniversary, in addition to including a suppliers’ trade show, a client evening, a cooking competition, and the presentation of the marketing report for 2013. The media turned out in great numbers to cover this big event.
The Hôtellerie Champêtre network was founded in October 1990, with the goal of boosting Québec’s profile on the international scene by building its image as a must-see vacation destination. An evolving market soon made it obvious for the association to focus first and foremost on quality, and to make it a priority in its selection criteria in order to attract, retain, and satisfy its clientele, which has become increasingly demanding over the years. Twenty-five years later, we can proudly say that Hôtellerie Champêtre is today the finest network of country inns and hotels in Quebec.
Members raised a glass to the 25th anniversary, and the festivities got underway!
The Annual General Assembly – Sunday, June 15 and Monday, June 16
The network can take pride in a record turnout this year, with 27 out of 31 establishments in attendance to take part in the various conferences and activities organized for the occasion. The assembly provided an opportunity to take a look back at 2013 and draw attention to a few highlights:
- The expansion of the network, which welcomed 3 new members this year: Auberge le Petit St-André, L’Oasis de l’Île, and Château-Bromont Hotel.
- The new board of directors and the appointment of David Cloutier, General Director of Auberge des Falaises, as the network’s new chairman.
- The network’s marketing report, showing massive media coverage, thanks to “co-op” campaigns with network members, and confirmed partnerships with Bleu Lavande, Arbraska, and Select Wines for upcoming campaigns.
- A $200,000 increase in the association’s own-source revenue
- Hôtellerie Champêtre generated estimated economic spinoffs of $9,396,727 for its members
“2013 was an exceptional year during which we reaped the rewards of our strategic vision established over the course of the three previous years. The administrative team, the board of directors, and the members of the network have embraced this vision, which explains the success the banner is now enjoying.” – Yannick Beaupertuis, General Director of Hôtellerie Champêtre
Suppliers’ Trade Show – Sunday, June 15
The suppliers’ trade show provided an opportunity for potential partners to meet decision-makers from the network’s hotels, showcase their products throughout Quebec, and develop their market—all under the same roof. Several suppliers also contributed to the success of Hôtellerie Champêtre’s event over the two days by sponsoring meals or coffee breaks, and offering door prizes.
Cooking Competition – Monday, June 16
Hôtellerie Champêtre, though a partnership with TVA Publications and Signé M magazine, organized a cooking competition among the network’s participating chefs. Eight chefs faced off in a friendly competition to create a fall-inspired appetizer. An independent 3-member jury then rated each appetizer based on taste, presentation, originality, and use of regional products—the last criterion of which is very important to Hôtellerie Champêtre.
The big winner of the competition was Chef Jean-François Méthot of Hôtel Rive Gauche – Refuge Urbain. He created a mini-burger of Artisan duck tartare with apple and truffle oil that won over the judges. He earned a double-page spread in the fall issue of Signé M magazine, valued at $10,000, featuring a profile and his winning recipe.
Cocktail Party – Monday, June 16
Auberge des Gallant, in collaboration with Hôtellerie Champêtre, invited some one hundred of its corporate clients who organize meetings and company events to a buffet cocktail reception. The evening featured entertainment by a trio performing lounge music, and the 8 chefs who participated in the cooking competition prepared all of the foods served during the event. In addition to strengthening business relationships, our clients were able to learn about all of the establishments in the network, and think about planning their next business meetings.
